Mallory's Literacy Timeline

  • Starting Soccer

    Starting Soccer
I started soccer when I was 3 years old. My dad was my coach for a really long time in little league. He's always been my biggest supporter in soccer. I've always worked really hard when it comes to soccer. It makes me happy to be out there on the turf. I thank God everyday for giving me the opportunity to play for my favorite place. It has taught me to always listen and follow directions to get the results you want.
  • Going on Walks

    Going on Walks
My grandpa used to take all of the grand-kids on walks into the woods behind his house on Sundays. He made up a fictional character called the "Forest Fairy" who would presents and treats in the trees and we would find them as we walked. It was always fun listening to my grandpa's stories.
  • Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

    Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
One of my first memories with my little brother was watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC. It's a fun tradition we have and we watch it every year together.
  • My First Book

    My First Book
The first book I ever read was Harold and The Purple Crayon. I also lost that book, but that's besides the point. I remember watching the cartoon on TV as well and I loved to books as well. I really enjoyed Harold's adventures as a child.
  • Reading to my Little Brother

    Reading to my Little Brother
My little brother and I are best friends. We hang out all the time, play soccer together, and we love to cook. When we were younger I used to read him bed time stories so I could practice my reading books. This is my first memory ever reading with my family. My brother has grown up so much and he's by far the funniest person I have ever met.
  • Winning District and Regional Composition Champion

Winning District and Regional Composition Champion
When I was in the 5th grade, on of our academic team coaches convinced me to try composition. I tried it out one meet before districts and got 3rd so I didn't expect to do too well in competition. I was waiting for awards, they called me for first place, and I could not believe it. I had the opportunity to go to regional's and I was very nervous for that too. I couldn't believe that I won there too and it's an experience I will never forget.
  • My First Play

    My First Play
I love going and watching shows. My first one was "Shrek: The Musical" at the Jenny Wiley Outdoor Theater for my birthday with all of my cousins. It was so much fun and I've loved musicals ever since.
  • Giving my First Speech

    Giving my First Speech
I gave my first speech in the 8th grade. I gave opening prayer for Junior Beta Inductions and I remember being so nervous. I spoke in front of the whole school and a lot of parents. I was so proud of myself for getting over my fear of public speaking and now I'm not that afraid.
  • Going to Washington, D.C.

    Going to Washington, D.C.
I loved going to Washington on our 8th Grade Trip. It was so much fun. I love learning about history and it was a really cool to observe so many monuments and memorials to honor our countries past. That is one place that I would love to go back to in the future.
  • The First Day of High School

The First Day of High School
The first day of school is dreaded by most people, but I was over the moon excited to be in High School. I remember seeing all of the older kids and all of the teachers. It was crazy to observe a different school environment and now, I love high school.
