    Approximately 60 supporters of Avery and Dassey held a peaceful rally outside of the Manitowoc County Courthouse. These supporters believe Steven and Brendan are innocent and chanted for their release.

    Dassey's petition for writ of habeas corpus was granted by William Duffin. Duffin is a federal magistrate of Milwaukee. Duffin wrote a 91 page ruling, that said Wisconsin prosecutors had 90 days to either release Dassey or retry him due to his constitutional rights being violated.

    In a 17 page ruling, Brendan was ordered to be released from prison, again by federal magistrate judge William Duffin.

    Brendan Dassey's release, which had been granted, was blocked from the appeals court in Chicago while the case is still under appeal

    Steven Avery requests for a new trial on his murder conviction. His reasoning is that evidence was planted against him. Zellner files a 1,272 page motion.

    Steven Avery's motion for a new trial was denied by Sheboygan County Judge Angela Sutkiewicz. Judge Sutkiewicz claims that Steven has not met the legal standard to receive a new trial, in her six page decision.

    The U.S. Supreme Court denies Brendan Dassey's petition to have the justices hear his appeal. He is to remain in prison to serve his life term.

Zellner believes that Steven's other nephew, Bobby Dassey, is the one to blame. Bobby is Brendan Dassey's brother.
