The Cheyenne raided ranches because they were starving. John M. Chivington led 700 troopers to kill the Natives. They ended up slaughtering 70-500 Natives. The result of. this massacre was John Chivington being thrown out of the army and the Second Treaty of Fort Laramie to finalize borders.

    The Battle of Little BigHorn was caused by General George Custer when he led a scientific expedition into the Black Hills, Indian territory, and claimed he discovered gold. When he declared this, gold miners rushed to the Black Hills. Three Indian tribes, the Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapaho, went on the warpath and attacked against the miners. Custer's 7thh Cavalry with 750 men went against 2500 Indians. The Native Americans won this battle, but lost the war.

    The massacre at Wounded Knee was a major battle between the army and the Native Americans. This was one of the last major battles. This battle was caused by the US settlers fearing the Ghost Dance and led them to become more severe with forcing the tribes to remain in their reservation. The US troops tried to disarm the Natives and fired towards them. The US ended up massacring around 200 men, women, and children of the Native Americans.
