President Johnson added the fifth, which was freedom from ignorance. Meaning every person had the right to develop their full potential no matter what.

    Martin Luther King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. President Johnson assigned Attorney General Ramsey Clark to investigate the assassination immediately after hearing of MLK's death. He also made a personal call to Dr. King's wife Coretta Scott King.

    Bobby Kennedy was shot in Los Angeles during the campaign for the 1968 election. Bobby had already won California and South Dakota in the primary election for the Democratic nomination. Sirhan Sirhan would later be convicted of the murder and serve a life sentence.
