Holy Spirit Movement
Link.Ugandan Acholi prophet Alice Lakwena claimed to be told by the “Holy Spirit” to get rid of the Ugandan government, she formed the rebel group called the Holy Spirit Movement.
She had advised her many followers to cover themselves with cooking oil and they will intentionally become bullet proof, also throwing rocks and stones at the government will turn into hand grenades. Joseph Kony and Odong Latek were her successors starting the later rebel group known as the Lord’s Resistance Army. -
Fall of the Holy Spirit Movement.
LinkJoseph Kony had taken over the Holy Spirit Movement and taken the members and created the LRA ( Lord’s Resistance Army ). His main priority was to overthrow and take down the Ugandan government. He began to run out of soldiers and began kidnapping children making them cold blooded killers and turn against their families. -
A change in name.
LinkIn the fall of 1991 the Holy Spirit Movement had completely fallen through. After Joseph Kony had had his new recruits he had changed the name of his holy rebel group to the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA. This change of name was not heard of for the longest time but is becoming more famous everyday. -
Bigger Target.
LinkThe LRA continued to completely engulf Uganda and enslave and, kill, and rape more than tens of thousands of children, but by 1997 they wanted more. They had moved to bigger villages and had different tactics. It has seemed nothing could stop them, those children would kill anything their path with no mercy. They are still spreading today. -
Wanted.
LinkJoseph Kony has been wanted for war crimes from the International Criminal Court since 2005. His crimes include, murder, rape, kidnapping, trespassing and more. Joseph Kony is known for being one of the most insane men in the world with crimes unthinkable and unimaginable to most people. His crimes are becoming more well-known. The LRA has moved from village to village and is now spreading out of Uganda. -
Exiled.
LinkJoseph Kony was exiled to the bordering wilderness of southern Sudan and Congo, but after only a few months he had returned claiming to sign a peace treaty with the Ugandan government and put an end to his reign of the LRA claiming that he would surrender and turn himself in for his crimes. -
Backing out.

They had taken out more than 15 villages in Uganda and the LRA ( Lord’s Resistance Army ) had more than 30,000 members. All children. -

Video LinkAfter countless hours of begging from the people from Uganda and surrounding countries, and from the informed people in the United States of America, our government finally listened and President Barack Obama sent 100 U.S soldiers to aid the Ugandan Army. They were not sent to fight but to help train and organize their army so that they would be capable to defeat Kony and the LRA. -
Kony 2012
LinkIn 2012 a group called Invisible Children was created by Jason Russell, the group aids the families of those with captured children and tries to protect the people from being attacked. A video went completely viral in a matter of days named Kony 2012 where it aims to inform everyone about the horrors that Kony has committed and find a way to stop him. The LRA moves fast and is aware of this video and the United States plans to capture or kill him so they have changed their tactic -
Painting it red.
Video LinkIf you have watched the Kony 2012 video you would know the significance of the date April 21st, 2012. It is the day planned to “paint the world red.” Major cities around the world have agreed to put up posters and flyers and make speeches to inform everyone about Kony and what is happening. This is Invisible Children's’ plan to stop Kony and make Africa and Uganda safe again.
