British troops sent to the Mexican border believing they had to cross the line when they really didn't. -
Germany
War with Germany was no longer avoidable. -
Marched
We marched into town and the people watched like they never saw Americans ever. -
Seconded Division
General commanded the second division from its organization until the battle. -
Declare war
Congress declared war upon Germany. Leo Joseph Bailey enlisted and after the school, he was teaching closed. -
Materials
Gas masks, steel helmets, automatic rifles, and hand held grenades were received by all companies. Leo j. Bailey said as he carried bodies down the hill he was so glad it wasn't him getting carried. -
Trenches
When Leo J. Bailey and others marched 10 miles to the trenches. When they got there they had to creep in them very fast. -
Fog
They had to march through the fog to get back to Britain. -
End of the war
The war ends. It ended with the defeat of the Central Powers.
