    Ampex After dropping out of Berkeley, Lee started working as a junior engineer at the Ampex Corporation.He worked there for three years, until he decided to enroll back in school.

    In March 1968, Lee joined the underground Berkeley Barb. His first published article was about the demonstration for Stop-The-Draft Week.
  • Move to Berkeley & Design Project

    In June of 1974, Lee moved into a one bedroom apartment in Berkeley. He moved here with the goal of creating a computer terminal built on the Community Memory concept.
  • The Homebrew Computer Club

    More on Homebrew Computer Club March 1975, 32 members met in Silicon Valley to form what would later be known as the Homebrew Computer Club. This group included Bob Marsh, Bob Albrecht, and Steven Wozniak. Some people had already built their own computers, while others just wanted to learn more. They discussed computer chips, Community Memory, and Altairs. This club was for true hackers and it grew more and more over the next decade.
  • Beginning of the Sol

    Lee began working with Bob Marsh on the design for the Sol. They used Marsh's idea of the 8080 chip, which Lee had originally disagreed with.
  • Sol Prototype

    The Sol prototype was finally complete in late February 1976. It took Felsenstein and Marsh six weeks of fourteen to seveteen hour work days. At first the prototype did not work, but Lee quickly found the error and the Sol worked. The first public display occured several weeks later at a show in Atlantic City called the PC '76.

    Osborne Computer Corporation

    From 1981 to 1983 Lee Felsentein worked at the Osborne Computer Corporation. It all started when Lee ran into Adam Osborne at a computer faire in 1980 and they began discussing Osborne's idea of a portable computer.

    Osborne I The Osborne I was released in 1981 and was created by Adam Osborne, designed by Lee Felsenstein, and released by the Osborne Computer Corporation. It was the first portable microcomputer.

    Lee helped design the first wearable computer with Reddy Information systems.
  • Named "Pioneer of the Electronic Frontier"

    Lee was named "Pioneer of the Electronic Frontier" by the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

    In 2003, Lee worked with the Jhai Foundation to create an open source computer system for villages in developing countries.
