    American Federation of Labor
    It was a national federation of labor unions. They sought for better wages, work environments, shorter hours, and economic gains. It was dominated by craft unions and was the largest grouping of unions in its first 50 years.

    It was one of the deadliest industrial fire in the cities history. The owners had locked the stairways to prevent the workers from taking breaks and to prevent theft.

    He is a key person in labor union history. He founded the AFL and served as its leader. He promoted thorough organization and harmony among the craft unions.
  • 1930s General Motor Strike

    1930s General Motor Strike
    This changed the United Automobile Workers into a major labor union and led to the organization of the automobile industry. They succeeded with increased pay and workers were allowed to speak during lunch.
