" He got behind the heel of his father's ford roadster." (Hosseini 24).This quote shows from the start of how luxurious his life was and how luxurious it will tend to to be.
  • Baba not signifying Ali as his friend

Baba and Ali grew up as close childhood friends and despite Ali growing up to be a Hazara, Baba still secretively hung out with him but although the great memories and fun times they would both share, Baba would never signify Ali as his friend due to embarassment, This is evident on page 25 where Amir recites how his father never named Ali as his friend, "But in none of his stories did Baba ever refer to Ali as his friend." (Hosseini).
  • Baba being home contented Amir

Baba wasn't home too often due to work so Amir was left out but for when Baba was home, Amir was happy and felt safe. Amir growing up alone a lot maybe have left an impact of how he grew up worried and not liking being alone. "[...] I remember fairly happy when Baba was home. We'd eat together, go to see a film, visit Kaka Homayoun or Kaka Faruq." This quotation shows how happy and enjoyable their time together it was and how amir did not take it for granted.
  • Amir the Kite Runner

Amir is a great Kite Runner and hassan can agree, this leads to Amir being brave and victorious and as strong as his father. "Finally, i had my kite in hand. I wrapped the loose string that had collected at my feet around the spool, shook a few more hands, and trotted home." (Hosseini 67).

  • "Little Peace" Afghanistan

"Afghanistan, oficially the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan , has known little peace since 1979 when the soviet union invaded." Afghanistan was known as little peace for it's peace and united union. No current wars or disruption by any violence was current in Afghanistan.

Soviet troops stayed in Kabul for 4 years to assist president Babrak Karmal, "The first soviet troops parachuted into Kabul on Dec. 27,1979, so assist Babrak Karmal." (Afghanistan 2).
  • Amir and family regretting leaving Kabul

Amir and Baba and Rahim fled to the U.S and Amir regrets this action so he could have been there for Hassan and made up for the time he wasn't there. "Baba has 'sold' the house[...] shortly after Hassan and Farzana looked after the house." (Hosseini 199). If Amir hadn't left, he would have been there for Hassan and Farzana and not have missed their and probably could have prevented it.
  • Amir graduates from highschool

Amir graduates from highschool at the age of twenty and this shows how his hardworking dedication brought him to a victorious achievement to his goal. Amir is a hardworker and if there is one thing he has inherited from Baba it s that hardworking characteristic. "'I am moftakhir, Amir.' he said. Proud. His eyes gleamed when he said that and i liked being on the recieving end of that look." (Hosseini 131). This quote shows how Baba is proud for Amir inheriting that hardworking characteristic.
  • Amir leaving to Hazarajat to find Hassan

Amir left to Hzarajat to find Hassan not only because everyone had fled at that time but also because he wanted Allah to forgive him. This is a big step that Amir is willing to take and despite Hassan being mad at him, he felt sorry and needed Allah's forgiveness. "There were a lot of reasons why I went to Hazarajat to find Hassan in 1986." (Hosseini 203).

  • The Last Soviet Troops Left Afghanistan

"Eventually, after peace talks moderate by the United Nations, the last soviet troops left Afghanistan in Februrary 1989." (Afghanistan 2). This shows how the United Nations were fairly nice to the Soviet troops so they went to serve Afghanistan with the help of the U.S supplies of missiles.
  • Taliban Takeover Ruins Afghans

"Buoyed by Pakistan aid, the Taliban by 1996 had taken control of Afghanistan, imposing strict enforcement of fundeamentalist Islamic law, banning movies and music and forcing women out of schools and into all-enveloping burqa clothing." (Afghanistan 2). The Talibans were taking over in a strict abbrupt way, they had no cnsideration to women's rights and enforeced harsh laws and so forth with all means of horrible actions to Afghanistan.
  • Mullah Omar's Big Movement

"By the end of 1994 Mullah Omar had nearly 12,000 followers and was rolling up the warlords to the north and east. With his promise of restoring the centrality of IIslam to daily life, he created a genuinely popular movement in a country weary of corruption and brutality." (Afghanistan 2). This quote shows how Mullah's got everyone to be in his strong movement and how he pursued to take action in this movement to the north and east.
  • The Taliban Takeover

"Afghan folklore, the group's first action occured when ullah Omar, a pashtun who had lost an eye fighting the soviets, gathered a small band of men and attacked a group of warlords who had raped a girl and shaved her head." (Afghanistan 2).This quote shows how curel the Pashtuns were.

  • Amir's regrets

"... the enormity of what I had done that winter and that following summer hit me again." (Hosseini 214). Amir fled kabul to the U.S and is now regretting because of what had happened and thinking that if he had not fled, things would have gotten better but he still lives in regret.
  • Amir and Soraya's wedding

Amir and Soraya's wedding would have probablt not been so rushed if it wasn't for the dying of Baba, Although Baba had not much time to live, they still included him and rushed their love. If Baba weren't dying, they would have maybe second guessed their marriage. " Everyone knew the reason, so no one had to actually say it: that Baba didn't have months to live." (Hosseini 169).
  • Amir feeling sorrow for not being there before Hassan and Farzana's death

Rahim Khan tells Amir about Hassan and Farzana's death and his heart drops with despair of not being there for them and being in the U.S. but he knows he can make it up by saving Sohrab, Hassan's child. "But all i could manage was to whisper 'No. No. No." (Hosseini 219). After hearing about their death Amir fills with despair.
  • Post 9/11 Invasion

"After the attack on the World Trade Center in New York on Sept. 11, 2001, President George W. Bush gave the Taliban an ultimatum to hand over Mr. bin Laden." • Mislead understanding of education

Baba takes to Amir about his education and he talks about how his learning in school is mislead with the actual education and this is well exhibited through the teens of the U.S to this day where they are mislead and not aware of the education they have and this leads to taking their valuable education for granted. "'I see you've confused what you're learning in school with actual education.'" (Hosseini 16).
  • The Karzai Government

"He took office as interim president in June 2002, saying he hoped to secure peace for Afghanistan and win the country much-needed aconomic progress and the corrupt officials who seem to stand at every doorway of his government." (Afghanistan 3). This quote shows the resiliency of Afghan's new king and how he has hopes and dreas to unite Afghanistan once again a united whole; 'little peace'.
  • Sohrab feeling as he will always be a Hazara

Sohrab grew up as a Hazara just as his father Hassan and even though Amir has taken him in as a child, he still feels unsafe and worthless as a Hazara, wll Sohrab ever get out of this upset mentality? "But he knew that when the bandages were removed and the hospital garments returned, he was just another Hazara orphan."(Hosseini 356). Amir is there to guide Sohrab out of this upset mentality as a father and a mentor.
  • Amir saving Sohrab for atonement

Amir wasn't by Hassan's side for a long time after Hassan left Kbul and saving Sohrab from the orphanage may be Amir's chance to atone for the non presence for being there for Hassan. "'Shhh.' I pulled him close, wrapped my arms around his shaking body. 'Shhh. It'll be all right. We'll go home together. You'll see, it'll be all right.'" (Hosseini 342). As Amir comforts Sohrab from being shaken up, he promises him all will be all right and to not worry but is he just atoning?

  • Sohrab being patient and forgiving

Sohrab is a great child who is oatient and forgiving and when Amir tells him that he will be adopte but it takes time, Sohrab metaphorically explains how joyful he is through the sour apples and how he ate bad sour apples and had to be patient to get better. "' I don't mind. I can wait, It's like the sour apples." (Hosseini 340).
