  • Hassan Wins The Kinte Running Contest

    To please Baba Amir was determined to wint the Kite Running contest. Hassan was by his side the whole time and when he won Hassan cheered, "You won Amir agha, you won!" (58).

  • Hassan's Rape

    After the celeration Hassan tol AMir he would go get the winning kite for him. When Amir went looking for him he saw Hassan getting raped by Assef. Amir ran awasy and told himself, "I ran because I was a coward. I was afraid of Assef and what he would do to me." (68).

  • Hassan and Ali Leave Afghanistan

    Living in Afghanistan is getting marder and harder for ALi and Hassan to live in so they decide to leave. As they leave, Amir states " If ths was on of the Hindi movies Hassan and I used to watch, this was the part where I would run outside... I'd chase the car, screaming for it to stop. I'd pull HAssan out of the back seat and tell him I was sorry, so sorry, my tears mixing with rain water...But this was no Hindi movie. I was sorry, but i didn't cry and I didn't chase the car." (94)

  • 1981 Amir and Baba Leave

    Once things got really bad in Afghanistan Amir and Baba decided to leave for America. During thier journey Amir states, "My innards had been rolling since we left Kabul just after two in the morning." (78).

  • Amir and Baba Arrive in San Francsico

    After a long journey, Amir and Baba finally arrived in San Francsico. They were both excited and " Baba love the idea of America." (125)

  • Amir Meets Soraya

    AMir meets Soraya at a flee market. He describes her like "She had thick black eyebrows that touched in the middle like the arched wings of a flying bird, and th gracefilly hooked nose like a pincess from Old Persia..." (140)

  • Last Soviet troops left Afganistan

    After peace was made by the UN, "...the last Soviet troops left Afganistan in February 1989, in what was in effect a unilateral withdrawal."

  • Amir and Sorya Get Married

    Shortly after meeting, Amir and Soraya decide to get married. Baba is even more sick and before he dies he Amir says, "Then the wedding, which would be paid for by Baba." (i169)

  • Baba Dies

    Baba decides to not take his medicine and dies after the wedding.

  • Hassans Mother Returns

    Hassans mother comes back. She is badly injured but says she loved her son.

  • Power in Afganistan Was Divided Among Warlords

    Once the Soviet Union left, Afganistan was left distrught and, "...Afganistan descended into vicious internicine strife: by the summer of 1994, power was dicided anarchally among competeing warlords and individual fiedoms."

  • Taliban Takes Control of Afganistan

    WIth Pakistas help, the Taliban was able to take control of Afganistan and was, "...imposing strict enforcments of fundemetal Islamic Law, banning movies and music and forcing women out of school."

  • Hassan and Farzana are killed by the Taliban

    During the time Amir and Hassan were seperated, Hassan and his wife both die. This comes as a shock to Amir when Rahim Khan tells him.

    Rahim Kahn wants Amir to come bcak so he can find Sohrab

  • Sorhrb and Amir fly a kite together

    At the end of the book Amir and Sohrab fly a kite together. Sohrab was really good at kite flying like his father and Amir statde, " SOhrab raised his hands and turned slowly. He stood on tip toes and spun gracfully, dipped his knees, straightened, end spun again." (280)

    General Petraeus Was in charge of millitary opperation in Iraq.

    Obama planned on deploying 30,000 troops in Afganistan.
