    JP Morgan joins in merging the Federal Steel Company with the Carnegie Steel Company and other steel companies to form United States Steel Corporation, which becomes the world’s first billion-dollar corporation.
  • John Pierpont Morgan dies

    On March 31, 1913 , John Pierpont Morgan passes away in Rome, Italy in his sleep at the Grand Hotel. The NYSE closed for 2 hours on that day, and they also flew the flags half staf down the street to show respect.
