Jane Goodall

  • Arrived to Tanzania

    On July of 1960, Jane Goodall arrived to Gombe Stream Chimpanzee Reserve in Kigoma. (Tanzania). She wanted to study chimpanzees and she was also hired by Louis Leakey. Another famous scientist.
  • Janes first discovery

    Months after, she found her first discovery, she found out that chimps eat meat. She discovered that agroup of chimps would attack, kill and eat a red colobus monkey that had climbed high into a tree.
  • Jane discovers that chimps use tools

    Weeks after, she discovers that chimps use tools, some they even make themselves. They use an ownmade tool to extract the termites from their mounds. This would force science to reconsider the definition for Homo-Sapiens.
  • "Civil war" between chimps

    There is a fight/conflict between two groups of chimps. The chimps in Gombe and the chimps in Kasakela
  • Cannibalism is observed

    Cannibalsim is observed, mother and son kill babies in their own community for their goods.
  • Janes Institute is Founded

    She founded her institute to keep on researching about the chimpanzees and expand effort on protecting, conserving the chimps
  • Jane as an activist

    She attends to the first "Understanding Conference" in Chicago. Instead of researching and founding about them, she decided to spread the message of protecting the chimps and protecting their habitat.
  • Roots and Shoots

    A group of students in Tanzania, founded roots and shoots to discuss how the young people can do things to make the world a better place. Roots and Shoots was created to create practical solutions tomajor problems in the earth.
  • Janes Goodall institute sanctuary was founded

    She founded the institute to provide a home and take care of the chimps to stop trading the chimps and to protect them from anything that could happen to them.
