    The book begins with Jane's backstory Her mother and father had died when she was younger, so she went to live with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. After her uncle died, her aunt and cousins severely abused her. Her aunt had gotten tired of Jane's "misbehavior", she sent her to Lowood Institution for poor orphan girls. Jane spent eight years there, six as a student and two as a teacher.

    After her time at Lowood Institiution, Jane Eyre pursued a career as a governess. She was hired at Thornfield Hall to care for Adele, Edward Rochester's only daughter. After three months, Mr. Rochester returned from a long journey, and an odd friendship was born. A party ariived one day that had characters as Miss Ingram, Colonel Dent, Mr. Eshton, Amy Eshton, and Sir George just to name a few. Mr. Rochester had announced his proposal to Miss Ingram.

    Mr. Rochester had announced his proposal to Miss Ingram, shortly before Jane had been summoned at her old home of Gateshead. Her aunt Mrs. Reed had been ill after the death of her son John, and she had wanted to see Jane before she died. After her death, Jane returned to Thornfield before the wedding, but she had discovered that Mr. Rochester had been in love with her, He had pretended to be engaged to make Jane jealous (which worked).

    The marriage had been called off because Mr. Rochester is still married to another women. It was a forced marriage when he was younger, to bring wealth to his his poor family. After learning this Jane decided that she could not be his mistress so she ran away as far as she could. She had almost died of dehydration, and hunger when she found a German family that took her in.

    Jane had found a teaching job, given to her by St. John, and settled herself in her new life as Jane Elliot. After a talk with St. John, she had discovered that he and his two sisters were in fact distant relatives, cousins to be exact. However, St, John had asked Jane if she would accompany him in India as his wife. She refused his offer, and had decided to seek out Mr. Rochester. She found that Thornfield had been burned down and Mr. Rochester was not there.
  • Conclusion

    Conclusion
    Jane found Mr. Rochester in an estate thirty miles away. He had gone blind, and his left arm was wounded when Thornfield Hall burned down. They were married and truly lived happily ever after
