    Separation of Texas
    Location: Washington-on-the-Brazos
    Description: The land in Texas was cheap, so many Americans settled there. Americans brought slaves knowing that Mexican laws didn't´t allow it. American settlers, Tejanos, and Mexicans who lived in Texas, wanted to separate from Mexico.
    The Texas Declaration of Independence was made and signed at the Convention of 1836 at Washington-on-the-Brazos.

    Description: During the chaos, a group of Mexican soldiers ransacked shops located in the Parian Marketplace, in Mexico City. One of them was a pastry shop owned by a French citizen named Remontel. His shop was completely looted.

    Description: It was an armed conflict between the United States of America and the United Mexican States from 1846 to 1848. It was after Texas was declared independent. The problem was that Mexico still considered Texas their territory.

    Description: The French, under Napoleon III tried to established an empire in Mexico with a puppet ruler, the Archduke Maximilian of Austria. On the five years of war, 300,000 Mexicans died, and French ambitions were affected too.

    Second Empire with Maximilian

    Description: During the formation of the empire, Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria was appointed Emperor of Mexico and the Mexican Empire was formed. He and his consort settled themselves and their court in Chapultepec Castle, located on the outskirts of the city.
