Dede also did not go to school. She was unaware of any upcomming dangers to hee sister but this keeps her living the longest. -

In the begining of the book it is implied she would live the longest by her father. " she was bury us all, her father adds laughing". ( page 8). This dark humor implies the others will die first. -
Dedes guilt
Minerva was in love with lio. Even though she didnt want to admit it. Lio ends up giving dede a love letter to give to minerva on the day she gets preposed to. She secrets is in love with him as well and burns the letter. -
Foreshadowing her sisters death
She begs her sister not to go on the mountains. They end up getting strangled and thrown off the mountains that night. This foreshadows their death and goes back to the idea that dede would be the last sister alive. "A chill goes through her, for she feels it in her bones, the future is now beginning. By the time it is over, it will be the past, and she doesn't want to be the only one left to tell their story". (Page 10) -
Dede's Loyalty
Dede is confronted by her husband Jaimito. He is concerned with the revolutions her sister are involved in and he makes her swear not to get involved. She says she won't get involved, but she sneaks off and goes with her sister anyways. -
Dedes mixed feelings
She was both for and against the revolution. She agreed rd but she was scared of what might happen to her and her sisters, so she used her husbands opinion as an excuse to not involved. She later regrets this situation l. -
The present
Dede feels guilty about being the last sister alive. She feels like shes being haughted by her sisters. She feels this way out of shane for not being a revolutionary like them. -

Dedes past has shaped her present self. She now lives life in regret and shame. She says her Minerva sisters still haunt her. -
Dede begins to come to
It the text Dede says she has been divorced for 10 years. It has taken her about 36 years to come to her senses and divorce the man she didn't originally like in the first place. -
The last one
Dede recalls the past a lot. She says she keeps going by remembering the fun times her and her family had in the past.
