    Leonardo Da Vinci was born
    He was born near the village of Vinci around 40 kilometres west of Florence. Da Vinci was an illegitimate child (meaning he was born to unmarried parents. His dads names is Sir Piero and his mother’s name is Caterina.

    Da Vinci’s career starts

    Da Vinci had no serious education background other than basic reading writing and maths. Although, his father saw that he had potential for art and decided to apprentice him around the age of 15 to the noted sculpture and painter Andrea del verrocchio.

    First commission

    First commission
    In the year 1482 da Vinci was finally commissioned for an art piece by The adoration of the magi in Florence’s san donato, we do not know what he was paid to paint or make but he never actually finished his first commission due to being relocated to Milan so he can work for the ruling sforza clan.

    First completed art piece

    Di Vinci relocated to Milan while working for the Sforza Clan. He given a job as an; engineer, architect, designer of court festivals and mostly notably, a sculptor. Da Vinci created a large 16 foot tall equestrian statue, made of bronze to honour the dynasty founder Francesco Sforza. Da Vinci worked the equestrian statue for 12 years. In 1493 a clay model was displayed, however the clay model was destroyed in conflict after the ruling of Sforza duke fell from power in 1499.

    The last supper

    The last supper
    The last supper was a painting that da Vinci had painted when he was in Milan from 1495 to 1498. The painting had been created for the rectory (a room used for communal meals) of the city’s Monastery of Santa Maria Delle Grazie, also known as The Cenacle. This work measures to about 4.5 by 8.8 metres and is the artist only surviving fresco (a painting done rapidly in watercolour on wet plaster on a wall or ceiling).

    France invaded milan in 1499 First da vinci fled to Venice then Florence. He made many paintings including La Gioconda a 21 by 31 inch commonly known as the Mona Lisa Painted between 1503 and 1506, the women depicted because of her smile has been the subject of speculation for centuries. she was thought to be Mona Lisa Gherardini a courtesan (prostitute with high class clients), but scholarships indicates she was Lisa Del Gioncondo wife of Florentine merchant Francisco del Giocondo.

    Return of da Vinci

    Around 1506 da Vinci has finally returned to Milan along with a group of disciples including young aristocrat Francesco Melzi who would later become da Vincis closest companion until da Vinci’s death

    The later years

    Dan Vinci left Italy for good in 1516 when French ruler Francis generously offer him the title of premier painter, engineer and architect to the king which allowed him to paint and draw whenever he felt like it, while living in a country manor house, the chateau of cloux near the Amboise in France. Things left behind indicate that da Vincis later years weren’t the happiest.

    Da vinci had died at Cloux in 1519 at the early age of 67. He was buried nearby in the palace church of saint Florentin. Although in the later years the church would be nearly demolished and its remains were completely demolished in the early 1800s making it impossible to identify da Vinci’s exact grave site
