House on Mango Street

  • Esperanza Moves

    Esperanza moves into their new house on Mango street where she has to constantly babysit her little sister. She becomes friends with a girl names Cathy. Then after buying a bike becomes friends with two new girls Lucy and Rachel.

  • New Neighbors

    Cathy moves and Meme and her cousins move in next door. Her cousin steels a car and they all go for a joy ride before the cops come. Esperanza starts to find out about becoming a woman from Marin.

  • High Heels

    Rachel, Lucy and Esperanza get high heels from the older woman on their street. They got dressed up and ran around the neighborhood with them on. They then got gross attention from men and were turned off of wearing the shoes.

  • The Dress

    Esperanza's mom bought her a dress to go to her cousins house and in this dress she got more attention from men then she normally did. She still had to wear these old shoes that he mother made her but was interested in dancing so she forgot about the shoes. Esperanza liked the attention she got from boys.

  • Photo Lab

    Esperanza's aunt gets her a job at the photo lab and she was nervous about having a job. This guy that she works with that is an older man befriends her and she was happy about that but then he forced her to kiss him.
