  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Because England was so far in debt from the French and Indian war they started to taxed the colonists on sugar, molasses and rum. It also allowed England to collect smuggled items without going to court. This raised prices on everyday items for the colonists which before they got cheaper because they were smuggled items. this reminds me of Shameless when Frank went up to Canada to smuggle pharmaceuticals into his neighborhood.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The stamp act stated that all documents used in the colonies have to have an official stamp by England. The idea of the stamp act was so that any papers that were used in the colonies would be taxed by Britain. The colonists were affected because the prices were increased on the paper and documents.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A group of colonists began taunting the British soldiers and then eventually throwing snowballs at the soldiers. The Colonists were protesting the soldiers being in their city. The soldiers were there to enforce the taxation measures from Britain. The soldiers, after getting hit by snowballs, began firing on the colonists which left 5 dead and 3 injured. This event is considered the first death of the American revolution.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a protest in Boston, Massachusetts. The American colonists were angry about Britain imposing "taxation without representation" so they dumped 342 chests of tea from Britain into the harbor. This was the first major act where the colonists were trying to show Britain that they didn't have control over the colonies.
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts
    They were laws passes by England because of the rebellion of the colonists. They closed the harbor till the colonists paid for the tea. The second law put soldiers in Massachusetts. the third law protected British officials that were caused of crimes in the colonies. the final law said colonists were forced to house soldiers in there homes. Instead of being controlled the colonists took charge and made the Continental Congress to create the declaration of independence.
  • Fighting at Lexington and concord

    Fighting at Lexington and concord
    Considered the first battle where the British started revolutionary war. British soldiers set out to hold hostage Sam Adams and John Hancock. The colonists were alerted by riders going through town letting everyone know that the British were coming alerting Sam Adams and John Hancock to escape. This put all colonists on edge.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    In Boston the British were trying to keep control of the colonies so the marched into Boston to take over the harbor. While the colonists went to bunker hill after hearing about their plan to prepare for battle. which caused Britain to lose 226 soldiers were killed and 800 wounded. Which gave the colonists hope that they could fight and win.
