History of Walnut Hill Community Church

  • When it all began.....

    When it all began.....
    Walnut Hill began with small group meetings in the summer at Black Rock Congregational Chuch in Fairfield.
  • Re-located.

    Walnut Hill (called Grace Community Church at the time) moved from Black Rock (mother to Walnut hill) and held 1st service in the Ramada Inn of Danbury.
  • No real location for church.

    The church lived out of a suitcase utilizing facilities of local schools. 1982-1988
  • Purchased property!

    Purchased property on Walnut Hill road in bethel.
  • Changed name! WALNUT HILL!

    In anticipation of our move to Walnut Hill Road in Bethel, the name was changed to Walnut Hill Community Church.

    The first pastor was called at Grace CC.

    The first service was held in original 24,000 sq. ft. multipurpose building. (This is now where the children's ministry is located).
  • Added an addition.

    Spring of '03 they began utilizing new building (37,000 sq. ft.) that was added on. This building includes the Fellowship Mall, Guest Room, 24-7 Prayer Room, Worship Center, and Youth center. The original building is where the Children's Center is located.
  • Began occupying newest parts of campus

    Began occupying newest parts of campus
    Made an expanded Worship Center, a Discipleship Wing with seven meeting spaces, a new Nursery Center, a Children's Theatre that seats 200 kids, a second-level Loft designed specifically for 5th & 6th graders, two new rooms for Special Forces (ministry to children with special needs), & a second-floor office for approximately 40 full- and part-time staff members.

    Opened the Windows Cafe - a place where peopl at church can grow in their relationships over a cup of specialty coffee and refreshments.

    2010 - THE NEXT PHASERecognizing that God appears to be up to something special in this area -- and knowing they cannot expand further on this site -- key leaders are took the better part of 2010 to research and develop plans for a second Walnut Hill campus somewhere approximately 20-25 miles east of our Bethel site.
  • WATERBURY CHURCH OPENED!

    WATERBURY CHURCH OPENED!
    Opened the new Waterbury church! Craig Mowrey is the paster there on sundays at 10:30.
