    The Fourth Crusade
    In 1199 Pope Innocent III ordered a crusade. He was ignored until 1202 when the crusade started. The original goal of the crusade was to recover the city of Jerusalem from the united Egyptians. In the end, Jerusalem was never recovered and Constantinople was conquered.
