    Democritus (400 BC)
    Democritus discovered atoms are indestructible, solid but invisible, and homogeneous. Also atoms differ in size, shape, mass, position, and arrangement. He was the first to create the atomic model.Democritus used the scientific method to make his discovery. He believed the atom was solid and circular.
  • Dalton

    Dalton
    Dalton discoverd that atoms can't be divided or destroyed. He also stated that all atoms of the same elements will be exactly the same and that atoms of different can combine to form compounds. His model was created through experiment. Dalton gathered evidence from experiments because he had no concept of protons, neutrons or electrons.
  • J.J. Thomson

    J.J. Thomson
    Thomson discovered electrons and noticed that an atom can be divided. Also, atoms are made of positive cores negatively charged particles within it. Thomson studied mathemmatics and physics and he used those studies to make his discovery. The model of the atom became known as the "plum pudding" atom. The negatively charged plums were surrounded by positively charged pudding.

    He discoverd the nucleus of an atom . He used the Gold Foil Experiment which consist of shooting Alpha atoms into extremely thin gold foil and seeing where on the surrounding circular wall in hit . He named his model the Rutherford Atomic Model .

    Bohr proposed a model for the hydrogen atom that was consistent with Rutherford's model and yet also explained the spretrum of the hydrogen atom . He used the classical physics to show that the energy of an electron in any one of fthese orbits is inversely proportional to the square .

    He said this means that electrons dont travel in neat orbit . also all electrons that contain rotons will the charge momentrum and physics . His contributon to the atomic theory wa that he calculated the behavior of electrons . Surronding the outside of atomic nucleus is an electron cloud , which is a name given to the the electrons an atom contains .
