  • Elementary and Secondary Act

    Elementary and Secondary Act
    This act was put in place to regulate free or cheaper lunch prices to students of low income families.This was meant to facilitate equal opportunities to an education .ESEA was also organized to create a grant program for students with disabilities.
  • Public Law No.94-142

    Public Law No.94-142
    Seven years later ,this law assured to secure free access to a proper public school education for students with disabilities.In order for the changes to be in effect,written notices had to be provided to the parents in regards to the placement of their children. ( Dietrich et al,2015)

    This same year a case was built in regards to students having cognitive disabilities,where the constitutionality was challenged.The final ruling sided with children with disabilities granting them the rights to not be denied free education or any training programs that's available.

    One year later,this act gave people with disabilities the opportunity to get employment and higher education.This act prevented organizations which spent federal funding from discriminating people with disabilities.

    That same year president Nixon stepped in to sign the law which prohibits discrimination in the work place or any establishment which receives federal funding against people with disabilities.This law allows Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) to all children with disabilities to receive accommodations.

    This law ensured that not only students with disabilities gets a free education,but also other children who does not have one.The children learning needs in this case should now be identified as they are now being provided with special education.

    This act replaced EAHCA, and offered more services such as bilingual education,transition into employment opportunities,social work technology for people with disabilities to name a few.
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (P.L 101-336)

    Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (P.L 101-336)
    This law was put in place to allow people with disabilities to get services such as transportation,telecommunication,public services and employment without being discriminated,in the private sector.
  • IDEA continued

    IDEA continued
    IDEA was renewed in order to improve the services that students with disabilities obtains.One improvement this act enact is to ensure that students with disabilities are being focused on more in a general classroom settings.Special teachers will also be provided in the general classroom to accommodate them with different tasks.

    Schools are held responsible for how the Standardized tests are performed by minorities and students with disabilities.Priority is given to a school as to how they use their federal funding if they make adequate yearly progress (AYP). if a school is not performing well,students may choose to enroll in a different school (Snyder,de Brey,& Dillow,2016)
