    Aristotle

    Aristotle
Aristotle was a greek astronomer who belived in the geocentric model which was earth-centered. He lived from 384-322 BCE. He thought that if Earth orbited the Sun, then the positions of stars would change as Earth moved. That is what parallax is.

    Aristarchus

    Aristarchus
Aristarchus was a greek astromomer and mathematician who believed in the heliocentric model of the solar system. His model was not widely accepted in his time. He tried to measure the relative distances to the moon and sun. It was a major help to science. His ratio of distances was too small but was important in the use of observation. He lived from 310-230 BCE

    Ptolemy

    Ptolemy
Ptolemy was an astronomer, geographer, and mathematician from Egypt. He developed a geocentric model that was used by astronomers for 14 centuries. He believed that a planet orbited in a perfect circle. In his model, the planets moved on small circles that moved on larger circles. He lived from 100-170

    Copernicus

    Copernicus
Copernicus lived from 1473 to 1543 and belived in the Heliocentric model. He developed the first detailed heliocentric model of the solar system. He also used the Wheels-on-wheels system Ptolemy used. His model is seen as the first step in the development of our solar system models.

    Galileo

    Galileo
Galileo lived from 1564-1642. He made a lot of improvments to the new telescope. With that telescope, he observed the moons of Jupiter, and that Venus went through phases just like the phases of the moon. He belived in the heliocentric model.

    Kepler

    Kepler
Kepler was a German mathematician and astronomer. He found out that the planets revolved in ellipces instead of perfect circles. He made Kepler's Laws which are 1. Panetary orbits are ellipces. 2. Planets move faster in their orbits when closer to the sun. 3. Relates the distance of a planet from the sun to the time it takes to go once around it's orbit.

  • First Rockect In Space

    First Rockect In Space
The first rocket which could fly high enough to get into space was the V2 missile which was first launched by Germany in 1942 which was during World War 2.
  • Sputnik 1

    Sputnik 1
Sputnik 1 was the first artificial satellite launched into space. It was launched by the Soviet Union on October 4th 1957.
  • Missions to the Moon

    Missions to the Moon
There were many missions to the moon. One of them and my personal favorite is the apollo 11 landing on the moon on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldron walked on the moon and became the first men on the moon. The picture is showing Neil Armstrong stepping off the apollo 11 onto the moon.
  • Outer Planet Exploration

    Outer Planet Exploration
Pioneer 10 flew past Jupiter (an outer planet) on December 3, 1973. Pioneer 10 found that Jupiter's inside is hotter than previously thought and discovered that the planet's radiation belts are strong enough to kill a human being.
  • Mars Robotic Explorers

    Mars Robotic Explorers
NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers launched toward Mars on June 10 and July 7, 2003, to find more about the history of water on Mars. They landed on Mars January 3 and January 24, 2004.
  • Orbiter Missions

    Orbiter Missions
The mars orbiter mission was one of the orbiter missions that is happening or already happend. It is a space probe obiting mars. It was launched on November 5, 2013 by the Indian Space Research Organisation.
