History of Softball

  • event one:

    Yale collage and Harvard collage faced eachother in football. When Yale collage was declared the winner, a Yale fan threw a boxing glove at a harvard student. The Harvard student swung the boxing glove and it flew in the air. This is considered the start of softball.
  • event two:

    In this year the offical name "softball" was created. Before it was refurred to indoor baseball, kitten ball, and many other names. People desided it was easier for it to be called one name only.
  • event three:

    Joint Rules Committee of Softball finally creates the standered rules for the game. Softball also starts getting popular around the world.
  • event four:

    The international softball orginization is formed. Which is the headquarters and training center in Plant City, Florida.
  • event five:

    Womans fast pitch softball is added to the roster of the 1996 summer Olympics. This showed people the success of the game.
  • event six:

    Softball is dropped from the Olympics.
  • Today(event seven):

    Today Softball is still played throughout the United Statesand around the world. There are over 1600 Collage teams around the world.
  • World reccords of Softball:

    The fastest pitched softball by a female is 77mph (2012).
    The farthest hit softball is 576 ft.
    The fastest time that was run around the bases is 13 seconds
  • How is softball related to health:

    Health realates to softball because softball can be a form of exercise. Running is a big part in softball and running is exersice which keeps you in shape.
