History of NBA team logos

  • Detroit Pistons

    One of the first NBA teams still continuing their franchise, the Pistons have only played in Detroit or Aubrey Hills to be exact, and also changed their logo 9 times.
  • Sacramento Kings

    Starting off their franchise as the Rochester Royals, then into the Cincinnati Royals, then into Kansas City Royals, and now as the Sacramento Kings. Their logo has changed 7 times.
  • Boston Celtics

    The Celtics have been playing in Boston in their entire span of their franchise. Their logo has been changed six times. Their recent change in logo was in 1995.
  • Golden State Warriors

    Starting off in San Francisco, the Golden State Warriors moved off to Oakland where most people only think they play at Golden State. Their logo has changed 10 times
  • New York Knicks

    One of the longest running franchises in the NBA today. The Knicks have stayed playing in New York, and has only changed their logo 6 times.
  • Philadelphia 76ers

    Also a long running franchise, they started off as the Syracuse Nationals, then moving into Philadelphia as the 76ers. Their logos have changed 6 times.
  • Los Angeles Lakers

    Starting off as the MPLS Lakers, then into the Los Angeles Lakers. Their logo has changed only 4 times.
  • Atlanta Hawks

    Their logos have changed a total of 10 times during the span of their entire franchise. The Hawks have played for three cities (Milwaukee, St. Louis, and currently Atlanta) so that explains why their logo has changed so much.
  • Washington Wizards

    Starting off as the Baltimore Bullets, then into the Capital Bullets, then the Washington Bullets, and now as the Washington Wizards. The Wizard's logo has changed 8 times.
  • Chicago Bulls

    The Bulls haven't changed their logo once ever in the span of their franchise at all.
  • Houston Rockets

    Ew the Suckets. They started off in San Diego then moved into Houston. Their logo has only changed 5 times and is still ugly.
  • Indiana Pacers

    Starting in Indiana and continuing to play there today. The Pacer's logo has changed 4 times in their franchise.
  • Oklahoma City Thunder

    Starting off their franchise as the Seattle Supersonics, then moving into Oklahoma City as the Thunder in 2008. Their franchise has only changed their logo 7 times
  • Brooklyn Nets

    After recently changing locations from New Jersey to Brooklyn, their logo has been slightly changed only adding "Brooklyn" to it. Their logo has changed seven times in the span of their franchise.
  • Milwaukee Bucks

    After having multiple teams play in Milwaukee, the Bucks have now settled in Milwaukee and their logo has changed 3 times.
  • Pheonix Suns

    Starting off in Pheonix and staying there to this day. The Sun's logo has changed only 3 times
  • Cleveland Cavaliers

    The Cavs have stayed in Cleveland their entire span of the franchise (unlike LeBron.) However their logo has changed five times.
  • Los Angeles Clippers

    Starting off as the Buffalo Braves, then into the San Diego Clippers, and now the Los Angeles Clippers. Their logo has changed 6 times.
  • Portland Trailblazers

    Staying in Portland to this day, the Blazers' logo has changed 5 times in their entire franchise.
  • Utah Jazz

    Starting off as the New Orleans Jazz, then moving into Utah. Their logo has only changed 5 times.
  • Denver Nuggets

    The Nuggets have only played in Denver for their entire franchise. Their logo has changed only five times in the span of their franchise.
  • San Antonio Spurs

    Also known as the wanna be Mavericks, the Spurs have only played in San Antonio. Their logo has only changed 3 times.
  • Dallas Mavericks

    One of the best teams in the NBA today, the Dallas Mavericks opened up, and is continuing to play in Dallas. Their logo has only changed twice and still looks the best better than the rest. This year their logo will be on the NBA championship :)
  • Miami Heat

    The Miami Heat, also known as the team LeBron James ditched Cleveland to only to lose to the Dallas Mavericks. Their franchise has stayed in Miami and has only changed their logo twice.
  • New Orleans Pelicans

    Starting off in Charlotte as the Charlotte Hornets, just like the Charlotte Hornets today, then moving to New Orleans as the Hornets, now are the Pelicans. They have changed their logo 5 times.
  • Orlando Magic

    Staying in Orlando for their entire franchise so far, the Orlando Magic have only changed their logo 3 times.
  • Memphis Grizzlies

    Starting their franchise in Vancouver, then moving into Memphis. Their logo has only changed 3 times so far.
  • Toronto Raptors

    So far the only Canadian team in all of NBA history to be successful and not suck so bad. The Raptors started and is continuing in Toronto, also have changed their logo only 2 times.
  • Charrlotte Hornets/Bobcats

    This one is very complicated but the Charrlotte Hornets were moved down to New Orleans but now they have the team name changed back to the Hornets after having 10 years of having the name Charrlotte Bobcats. Their logo has changed 4 times (not including Hornets)
