    The first public library was opened in Charles Town, South Carolina. Since it was publicly funded it was open for anyone who wanted to access it. Creating a public space where people could join to share thoughts and ideas makes it a very important event in history.

    After the ending of the Revolutionary War, Noah Webster was dissatisfied with the textbooks at the time created a new one. It was a multi-volume book that included reading writing and grammar. It was used nation wide and after being renamed has to this day, never been out of print!
