    Drive-throughs were created to speed up customer service. Many fast food chains or drive in restaurants created a drive-up window. In the 1950s speakers were common for drive throughs.
  • McDonalds

    The first McDonald's was opened in San Bernardino, California. The original owners of McDonald's were Mac and Dick McDonald, they opened the restaurant as a BBQ joint then decided to specialize in their best selling item, the hamburger eight years later.

    The Speedee System was created from McDonald's, which is an assembly line in the kitchen to create burgers and other foods to be made quickly. The system began to spread and became very popular.

    The first Dunkin' Donuts shopped opened in Quincy, Massachusetts. Bill Rosenberg created his own recipe and sold it to factories and construction sites when coffee and donuts became a popular food item.

    KFC was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders, he started his business selling chicken on the roadside during the Great Depression. His chicken business became a huge hit because of the use of pressure fryers which decreased the production time.

    Founded in Jacksonville, Florida from Keith J. Kramer and Matthew Burns. Following year later James McLamor and David Edgerton who opened the first franchise of Burger King, then replaced the insta-broilers with the flame-broiler which is what Burger King is famous for now.

    in 1954 Ray Kroc came to McDonald's and was intrigued by the system of efficiency that the brothers had created. He then started to franchise the brand and bought McDonald's in 1955.

    The first fast food chain opened internationally was in British Colombia then later that year another opened in Costa Rica. Around 1996 McDonald's expanded to their 100th nation. Claimed to open a new restaurant every three hours.

    Opened by former KFC franchise owner Dave Thomas, opened Wendy's in Columbus, Ohio. Known for their square burgers and milkshakes.

    Al Copeland originally opened a restaurant called Chicken on the Run outside of New Orleans. Business was not doing so well so he changed his recipe to an award winning one by making his chicken a little spicier. Then changed the restaurants name to Popeye's and franchised in 1976.
