    Greek Theatre

    Greek Theatre was the first ever theatre recorded in history known to us. They used drama to worship their Lord Dionysus. At this time of history, men were considered superior over women (Patriarchy) and so women were not allowed to perform, so men had to take their parts. Greek Theatres were circularly shaped because the Greeks found out about 'surround sound'. When they shaped it like this everyone in the whole audience would get great acoustics.(Please excuse the time it is 600BC-410AD.

    Medieval Theatre

    In Europe at this time people were not allowed to perform so pupeteteers and acrobats kept the theatre spirit alive. During this time many of the plays had the the eerie theme of mystery. During this time 'Miracle' plays were very popular, as on a Easter Day Service priests would act out 'Miracle' Plays. These 'Miracle' plays got so popular that they had to move it outside, Although it was still considered religious and not entertainment.

    The Ressainance

    The word Ressainance means 'Rebirth'. It is called Ressainance to the fact that since Theatre was not allowed in Medieval times (In Europe), Theatre was reborn in 1400. At this time a poular theme for acting was 'Comidell Arte' it was when actors wore masks to portray differnt characters and improvised all their lines on he way. During this time some of the most famous playwriters lived, they were: Christopher Marlow, Ben Jonson and espicially the famous William Shakespeare.
  • Kabuki Theatre

    This theatre originated in China and all plays based in this type of theatre are from legends. The music from this theatre is made from an instrument called the Shamisen. Characters in this theatre wear extravagant makeup and costumes. In this theatre Blue means bad\evil while red means good. All of the actors wear a very thick amount of extravagant makeup so it appears to the audience as if the actor was wearing a mask. Kabuki Theatre was created by a lady by the name of Opuni (O-pu-ni).
