  • First Photograph created

    Joseph Nicéphore Niépce used the Camera Obscura to create the first photograph. It needed eight hours worth of light to be seen and then quickly faded away
  • Morse code

    The morse code was used for radio communication, before people could transmit voice. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries the most high speed international communication used Morse code.
  • Telephone

    Alexander Graham Bell has the credit for the creation of the first practical telephone, but Antonio Meucci actually came up with the idea of the 'talking telegraph'.
  • Photophone

    Photophony was invented at around 1880. It is a device that uses light beams to transmit a message.
  • Radio Transmission

    In 1887, Heinrich Hertz discovered radio waves. In 1894, Guglielmo Marconi developed the wireless telegraph using radio waves. without Heinrich's great discovery we would not have television.
  • Videotelephony

    In the late 1870s, the concept of videotelephony spreaded in Europe and the USA. It is the concept of the addition of live video to voice telecommunication.
  • Satellite

    The first satellite was made in 1958. The satellite was used to relay and amplify radio communications using transponders.
  • Word Wide Web

    Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web in 1989. The World Wide Web is abbreviated as WWW this is in every single link (example) https://www.google.com
  • Smartphone

    The IBM Simon was the first smartphone.
  • Google

    In 1998, Sergey Brin and Larry Page created Google, one of the most widely used search engines.
