In Came The Miners!
The miners came to Australia when they heard out about the Gold Rush, 290,000 came from the British Isles 15,000 migrants from other European countries and 18,000 emigrated from the U.S. THe 290,000 were mostly convicts and settlers. They came by boat because there weren't many forms of transport back then. They came from England, Scotland, Wales, America, China and Germany. Because lots of people came it made Australia a very multicultural country. -
Why the miners came.
The miners came to find gold because they were poor and had high hope of finding gold.But only some found gold, the others didn't. -
Treatment
They weren’t treated very well the convicts were whipped and treated extremely badly. In the gold rush times the women and children were expected to work as hard as adults. -
The Eureka Stockade begins
The Eureka Stockade was a rebellion of the miners because of a miner called James Scobie was killed outside the Eureka Hotel. It began on the 3rd of December 1854 -
