The Decleration of Independence
On this day the thirtteen colonies declared there indepence from the british rule. This seperated us from England and let us be our own counrty with independent states. If it wasnt for the Decleration of Independece Our country would be different and it would have never expanded and grew to what is is today. -
The Louisianna Purchase
Thomas Jefferson bought Louisianna from the french for $15 million. The purhase more than doubled the size of the nation. We also gained full control over the Mississippi River. The MIssissppi river made trade through the united states easier. (McDougal Littel, 346) -
The Lewis and Clark Journey West
Lewis and Clark lead the journey west into Louisianna. Lewis was a captian and a great oudoorsman, he discovered over 200 new plant and animal species on the trip. Clark was also a great outdoorsman. his job was to make new and more accuarte maps of the newly owned land. They arived on the pacific coast in 1805 and returned to home in1806. Texas Revolution
When americans settledin texas they were unhappy with the spanish government. TheTexans wanted to annex texas into the United States.Mexico and The United States began war over the controll of Texas. The United States won the war and gained controll over Texas. (McDougal Littel, 429) -
The Alamo
Mexicans heldstrong against the texans for twelve days to defend the land.On the thirteenth day of battle the Mexican sent in more soldiers for war. The Mexicans had ended up winning the war of the Aloama. -
The Mexican American War
Mexico and the States had begun war in 1846.The war was over the northen part of texas, which is now the South Western Part of the United States.The United states won the war and gained control of part of mexico. Many Mexicxans were upset becuase they believed that the Americans provoked war just to get part of Mexico. (McDougal Littel 435-437) -
California Gold Rush
In 1849 people from all over the world traveled to California in order to either get rich from striking gold or getting rich by supplying the miners with food a supplies. The gold rush was a big way that the United States expanded west. -
The Attack on Fort Sumter
The Attack on Fort Sumter was the begining of the of the Cival War. The Northern militia held fort sumter for almost four years against the southern americans who had been in diagreement with the north. -

The Brown vs. Board of Education Case allowed school chilfren to no longer be segragated by race. This was an impotant part of becoming a free country. -

On this day Elvis found on his bathroom floor and was anounced dead at 3:30. He died at the age of 42. Elvis was one of our pop culture icons and it was a great loss for our society. -

September 11, 2001
On this day 4 american airplaines were hi-jacked by a terrorist guop called al-queda. The four aircraft were all headed toward four important US buildings, THis avent has changed the United states becuase afer 9/11 security has been enforced more than it previously was before the incident to prevent it from happening again. -
World tarde center memorial opening
On the tenth aniversery of september 11, 2001 the World TRade Center Memorial opened. It is an imporatant memorial in Ney York City becuase it helps people to never forgot all who were lost on September 11, 2001.
