    King Gustav Vasa re-establishes the separation of the Swedish Crown from the union. Beginning of the Vasa Dynasty.

    Norway is proclaimed a Danish province. By the end of the year the Norwegian parliament had agreed to join with Sweden in a personal union under the monarch of Sweden. Although nationalist aspirations were not to be fully realized until the events of 1905, 1814 was the crisis and turning point in events that would lead to a fully independent Norway.

    Queen Christina Alexandra no longer wanted the crown, and thought that Sweden deserved a better, stronger leader. She abdicated her throne and converted to Roman Catholicism. End of the Vasa Dynasty

    In the 1660s, Denmark was introduced to absolutism by other Europpean countries. However, the absolute power held by the King of Denmark was unique because he held all legislative, judicial, and executive review. Those powers were being used against the nobles of the land to benefit the wealthy. The first decade of Denmark being an absolute monarchy created many new reforms to the government, including the Danish Law of 1683, and also new ways to divide up the land for taxes.

    Treaty of Warsaw is concluded. Brings together the Swedish Empire and a faction of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Leads to the Battle of Warsaw, and the defeat of the Polish-Lithuanian-Saxonian by the Swedish forces.

    Denmark and Norway went into a naval war against the Bristic Navy, also known as the Gunboat War or the English War. After British boats won the war, Denmark and Norway were forced to sign a peace treaty. The events of the war led Denmark to bankruptcy in 1813,

    Treaty of Kiel ends the hostalities between Denmark and Sweden. This gave up Norway to Sweden, and ended the union initiated in 1380.

    The first liberal constitution was written in 1849 which established Denmark as a Constitutional Monarchy. The Liberal Constitution also grants citizens their rights, and limits the monarch's power.

    After the bankruptcy in 1813, the people of Denmark mainly blamed King Fredrick VI, therefore his successor was hesitant to make changes to the government, but began to break down the absolute monarchy and form a new government.

    Parilment aproved of the declaration of independence in Finland. The first world war was the opportunity for Finland to escape Russian rule. Then it led to the independence for Finland.

    Prime minister Per Albin Hansson declares it's nuetrality, and reject's Germany's request to use Swedish territory as a transit route for German Troops. After the Cold War, Sweden dropped its nuetrality, but still remains non-aligned today. Sweden also, however, often contributes to NATO and EU battlegoups.

    A war between the soviet and Finland, the cause of it was a treaty that the soviets signed from the germans to built a military base in Finland. Gave the germans a polititcal success and territory changes.

    German forces invade neutral Norway. They occupy Norway until the end of the World War II, in 1945.

    German troops crossed over the Danish borders. Germany took control of Denmark, however, Denmark cooperated with German forces unlike other countries. The King surrendered almost immediately after realizing that his army would not be able to successfully fight off the invasion and also as a strategy to maintain Danish control in Denmark for as long as possible. After German troops surrendered to the Allies in 1945, Denmark gained control back, but kept its close ties with Germany.

    German forces in Norway surrender in May. The King returns to Norway in June. Quisling is tried and executed for treason. Norway becomes a charter member of the United Nations. Reconstruction begins, with Norway's gross national product reaching pre-war levels within three years.

    The Danish Peoples Party (DPP) was founded in 1995 as a result of an increase in immigration. The DPP supports the monarchy, the idea of a nation church, strong defense, and preservation of cultural herritage. The DPP's participation in the Danish Parliment has made the difference in Denmark joining forces with the US and the UK in the 2003 War of Iraq, and fights to maintain a role in Afganistan.

    Prime Minister Stefan Löfven fails receive enough support for Sweden's Budget Bill, and is forced to step down from his position as Prime Minister of Sweden. Polls for a new election will take place in March 2015 for a new Prime Minister.
