  • Johnse meets Roseanna

    Johnse Hatfield is an 18 year-old West Virginia resident. He went to Jerry Hatfield's Kentucky grounds where he met Roseanna and fell in love. Devil Anse didn't support their marriage.
  • Roseanna has a miscarriage

    Roseanna is Pregnant and has contracted measles. She miscarried her child.
  • Johnse Remarries

    Johnse married Roseanna's 16 year-old cousin, Nancy McCoy, only months later.
  • McCoy Feud

    The McCoy Feud starts during the 1882 election.
  • Ellison dies

    Tolbert, Pharmer and Bud stab Devil Anse's brother, Ellison, 26 times and finish him with a shot in the back. Three days later, they paid with their own lives.
  • Wanted

    Kentucky's governor appointed special officer, Frank Phillips, in 1887 to arrest the murderers of the mcCoy brothers. He offered outlandish reward money. An army of bounty hunters on the West Virginia ridges searched for them.
  • Hatfield Raid/Animosity against the Hatfield's

    Hatfield's raided the McCoy family home on New Years Day, 1888, killings daughter and son, Calvin, and burning the cabin to the ground. This caused public opinion to shift against the Hatfield's. Meanwhile Phillips lacked properly executed extradition papers.
  • Unlawful arrest

    West Virginia's governor sued his neighboring state for unlawful arrest of 9 prisoners and the men were returned to Kentucky.
  • Roseanna and Randolph McCoy die

    Roseanna, tending her mother's wounds from New Years. She grew more and more depressed and died soon after. She was less than 30 years old.
  • Devil Anse dies

    Devil Anse dies of pneumonia.
