    The Wall Street Crash, also known as the Stock Market Crash, occurred in late October 1929. It wiped out 40 percent of the paper values of common stock. It started on the "Black Tuesday".

    The Dust Bowl was caused by the soil being really dry and this along with high winds caused very big storms. It made the living conditions unbearable for the people.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt gets elected

    Franklin D. Roosevelt gets elected
    The Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt defeats the incumbent Republican President Herbert Hoover in a landslide to win the presidency.
  • 21st Amendment

    21st Amendment
    The 21st Amendment is the ratification of the 18th Amendment, what the banishment of alcohol was. It helped The Great Depression, because people could now spend money also on alcohol, which lowered the dept the U.S. was in.
  • The Gold Reserve Act

    The Gold Reserve Act
    The gold Reserve Act outlawed most private possession of gold, forcing individuals to sell it to the Treasury. The act changed the nominal price of gold too.
  • The New deal

    FDR established The New Deal. This helped the U.S. by public work, agricultural work etc. The New deal took a little while to implement, but eventually helped the U.S. out of the Great Depression, along with WWll.
  • The Social Security Act

    The Social Security Act
    The act was drafted during President Franklin D. Roosevelt's first term. It created a Social Security, a federal safety net for elderly, disadvantaged and unemployed Americans. Ten millions of people have received financial support because of the act.
  • Revenue Act

    Revenue Act
    The Revenue Act of 1935 raised federal income tax on higher income levels, by introducing the "Wealth Tax". It was a progressive tax, established by Franklin D. Roosevelt, that took up to 75 percent of the highest incomes.
