    Economical Problems
    The economic problems France was suffering during these times led a huge part in the French Revolution by being one of the reasons for it. During these times it was almost impossible to profit in France and the cost of living there spiked.

  • Storming the Bastille

    Storming the Bastille
    French citizens started becoming enraged about Louis having a military ready to massacre the French citizens, so the citizens starting storming a Paris prison, the Bastille. They managed to seize control of the prison to protect the city against attack.They hacked the prison guards and started parading.

  • Great Fear

    Great Fear
    Through village to village, everyone was scared of nobles making outlaws cause fear in villages. So as a result, villagers made sure to cause commotion and fear in nobles by burning down their houses and doing riots.

    Meeting of the Estates-General
    Trying to deal with the problem, Louis practically had no more money left to try solving the problem. So as a last solution he wanted to impose taxes on the nobility, but they refused and asked to do a meeting with all three estates to approve of this new tax.

    The French Revolution took place during the 1789. It was a very important time due to effect it had on the nation. It caused a big turn in the French society by the poor getting frustrated and attacking the rich.

    Napoleon Takes Power
    As a young soldier, he takes power in 1795 as a general to defend the French Republic from the rebels. This made Napoleon a hero against the French. After this, he seized political power by surrounding the national legislature.
    I think this is important because throughout history Napoleon is considered a hero and I have a feeling that Napoleon is going to do something that will affect the French Revolution considerably.

    Rule Under Napoleon
    Instead of trying to make Franc like the days of Louis, he supported law that would strengthen the central government and achieve some goals of the revolution. Along with this, the Napoleonic Rules took effect under Napoleon.

    The Three Mistakes
    Continental System:Napoleon set a blockade in order to ruin Britian's economy which made the USA angry.
    Peninsular War:Napoleon forced Spain under his System and Spain did not want this happen so slowly the peasants attacked the French Army and ran away and over time this led to the French army having a loss of 300,000 soldiers.
    War in Russia:Napoleon attacked Russia after they didn't stop selling to Britian which led to the Great Army returning with only 10,000 to France. Source: Section 4.1

    Plans For Europe
    Because of Napoleons actions, Europe didn't want another uprising again so they agreed on three goals. Metternich was the foreign minister of Austria and was a representative of these goals. First of all, he wanted to prevent another outbreak of the French by surrounding France with strong countries. Second, he wanted to have "balance of power" so no country will be a threat to others. Third, was to give back the thrones to the families that were lost to Napoleon. Source: Section 5.1

    Napoleon at Loss
    Quickly after the following mistakes, his enemies took advantage of it and called for war against France. All of the main powers in France were against him. After his defeat, the British quickly exiled him to a remote island where he died.

    European rulers were very nervous about another event or uprising happening again and that the idea of the Revolution might spark a revolution somewhere else. So as a result, they pledged to base their relations with other nations on Christian principles in order to combat the forces of revolution.
