    The French Revolution had happened because of King Louis XVI. France was losing a lot of money from the parties they had thrown, and were on the verge of bankruptcy. This had led up to the French Monarch convening to the Estate General to order a new land tax levy which the King hoped would make everything better.

During the revolution, the Bastille was a symbol of power and the monarchy’s dictorial rule. It only held seven prisoners at a time, but the mob did not want the prisoners, instead they wanted they ammunition storages kept in the prison.

    Women had set out on a march from Paris to Versailles, hoping to get bread from the monarchy, because the civilians were to broke to buy bread. They were armed with pitchforks, and pikes. The women had all chanted “Bread! Bread!”, but the King and Queen just enjoyed their cuisine.

    The royal faily had tried fleeing Paris to Varenes, because King Louis had realized that things were becoming too dangerous for them because the mobs were becoming more violent. When they were caught in Varennes the trust of the revolutionary government to them faded completely and revolutionary government became violent towards the family.
