    Louis calls the Estates-General
    King Louis XVI summoned the 3 estates together to dicuss solutions to problems like the food shortage and bad economy. This was the first time the esates-general had been called since 1614. The third estate wasn't given equal say in the matter and was locked out leading to the formation of the national assembly. This gave the third estate a voice and the power to rebel against the king.

    Tennis Court Oath
    The Tennis Court Oath was a pledge made by the third estate after being locked out of the Estates-General. Thsi group later called themselves the National Assembly. They promised to keep meeting until a new constitution was written.
  • Storming the Bastille

    Storming the Bastille
    The third estate attacked the Bastille prison in order to get ammunition. This happens after King Louis XVI fired Necker. This was one of the events that started the revolution and symbolized the people of the third astate deying the king and winning.

    March to Versailles
    Women march to The Palace of Versailles becuase of the rising price of bread. They took weapons from the city armory. Guards were killed and they searched for Marie Antoinette. After the bloody intrution on the palace, the women forced King Louis XVI and much of the royal family to return with them to Paris.

    King Louis was called in front of the National Convention based on 33 diffrent charges including treason, by Robespierre.The Jacobins were in favor of killing the king. He is found guilty of being a traitor to France. He was executed.

    This was a time period during the revolution where many people were murdered for being accused of not supporting the revolution. At this time period people also feared attacks and invasion on their country from surrounding nations. The guillotine was used to murder many individuals including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

    Declaration of Rights of Man
    The National Constituent Asembly passed this declaration in 1789. It gave French male citizens equal protection under the law and was greatly inspired by the American Declaration of Independaance. This inpired a change all throughout Europe.
  • Robespierre Killed

    Robespierre Killed
    Robespierre's downfall began with his obssesion over violence and belief it was the only way to achieve the goals of the revolution. He became unpopular with the Comittee of Public Safety and citizens feared the violence. Robespierre was arrested and tried to commit suicide while awaiting execution but failed was was killed the following day.
