    It was their first meeting since 1614. The meeting was held to try to fix the government’s financial problems and his death was the first of the reign of terror.
  • Formation of the National Assembly

    The National Assembly was assembled by the third-estate. They would to business of French with or without the 2nd and 1st estates. They made prior taxation to be illegal.
  • The Tennis Court Oath

    It is called the Tennis Court Oath because the 3rd estate had their meeting in a indoor tennis court because they were loced out of the Estates-General. The only person from the 3rd estate who didnt sign the Tennis Court Oath was Joseph Martin-Dauch.
  • Attack on the Bastille

    The attack on the Bastille was the beginning of the French Revolution. The people of the 3rd estate had gone to Bastille, let the prisoners go, and stole all the weapons.
  • Great Fear

    When Louis XVI started gathering troops the 3rd estate got worried that Louis XVI was going to –kill them all. The 3rd estate had begun riots and started rumors about the king and his wife.
  • French Women force Louis XVI to leave Versailles

    The march of women started off in the market places of Paris. As they went on the mob grew and they ended up with thousands of people. The next day Louis XVI and his family returned to Paris with the mob.
  • Declaration of war against Austria

    The Legislative Assembly had declared war on Austria. At first France was weak but as the war went on they got stronger and stronger.
  • The National Convention is formed

    The National Convention would provide a new constitution when the country overthrew the monarchy. The National Convention had established a republic for the country.
  • Louis XVI is executed

    The execution of Louis XVI was a very major event and took place at the Place de la Revolution. He was beheaded by the guillotine and his death was the first of the reign of terror.
  • Reign of Terror

    When the French Revolution took place other countries worried about what would happen to them. In April of 1792 France declared war. Prussia urged France to restore Louis XVI and his power and threatened to destroy Paris if anything happened to the Royal family. Robespierre came in and eliminated any threats killing nearly 40,000 people.
  • The Thermidorian Reaction

    The Thermidorian Reaction was against the leadership of Jacobin Club. It started when a vote from the National convention to execute Maximilien Robespierre, Louis Antoine de Saint-Just and more.
  • The Directory is formed

    The Directory was a ry body of five officers. It had the authority to tell people to fill in the other positions of the government. The government was very much like the United States.
  • Napoleon Takes power

    Napoleon took power right after the French Revolution. He invaded hundreds of cities and started a small empire. He was finally defeated by the Duke of Wellington in the Battle of Waterloo and was exiled from Europe.
  • Napoleon Invades Russia

    Napoleon had gathered almost half a million soldier from all over. Napoleon ended up getting to Moscow and finding it empty, no people, no supplies, and all the shelter was burned down. At that point it was mid-September and there was snow which the French did not prepare for. Most of Napoleons men died from starvation, freezing, and raids by the Russian forces.
