    He was born with the name Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz. He was born on August 13, 1926, in Biran, Cuba. His parents are Angel Castro y Argiz, father, and the mother was Lina Ruz Gonzalez. He also had 12 siblings!

    Fidel went to Law School from 1945-1950. He went to Universidad de la Habana. After he went to law school, he became a judge.

    Cuban missile crisis in 1962. Fidel Castro was involved in this event. This event was a 13-day conflict between the United States and the Soviet Union started by the American discovery of Soviet missile deployment in Cuba. This was a threat to the US because this Communist country was close enough to bomb the US.

    At one point in his life, Fidel was a leader for Cuba. He served from December 2, 1976, till February 24, 2008. He ruled as a dictator for 32 years. (during this time, many people left his country and trie to come to the U.S)

    Fidel Castro welcomes Pope John Paul in the first visit to Cuba. This was a big deal because Cuba is Catholic and he is a pope. It was special to Fidel because he was in power at the time.

    February 19th, 2008, Fidel was not seen in public for a long time. It was not like him to just go missing. At this point, he had been missing for 19 months.

    Fidel Castro Had died on November 25, 2016. His death was caused by natural causes. He was cremated. Something interesting was that when they were driving his ashes in the funeral procession, the car broke down and soldiers pushed the car. Once he died, his brother succeeded him.
