This is because Ford had advertised the event for moths beforehand. The World Fair was huge success for the car, and was most likely the reason that 22,000 cars were sold in the first day alone.

    This is when the Shelby Mustang started its production. A shelby Mustang is designed by racing guru Carol Shelby. Ford had Shelby design as racing class of Mustang from the GT class of Mustang which had better mechanics than the standered Mustang and also the Pony Mustang interior.

Bullitt drives after bad guys in a 1968 GT390 Mustang through the streets of San Fransisco. At the time the film was incredibly popular and the car chase between Bullitt and a 1968 Cmaaro is ledgendary in the car world.

    These were the last years of the first generation Mustang, and sadly they were also the worst years of the generation. They were bigger flatter and less powerful. The reason they were bigger was to make room for fords new huge engine, but these new engines were forced to meet the new emissions standars of the time. Thus the cars were severly underpowered and not very well liked by the consumers.
