  • Anschluss

    People involved: Kurt Schuschnigg, Adolf Hitler, and Nazis.
    Military: No military confrontation took place and even the strongest voices against the annexation stayed at peace.
    This is the political union from Austira with Germany. Austria was annexed into the German Third Reich and there had been several years of pressure from Nazis and non-Nazis. Austria's Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg tried to hold a referendum for a vote on the issue but did not come out in his favor.
  • Munich Pact

    People involved: Adolf Hitler, Neville Chamberlain, Édouard Daladier, Georges Bonnet, Benito Mussolini
    Military: Czechoslovaks- relying on military assistance from France, Soviet Union, and Great Britian until Hitler stepped in.
    After the annexation of Sudetenland, Adolf Hitler looked at Czech. France, Italy, Great Britian and Germany all agree to let Hilter have the western part of Czech because Itally, France, and Great Britain have an alliance with Czech and they were not ready for war.
  • German Annexation of Sudetenland

    People involved: Adolf Hitler, Czech Government
    Military: German troops came in and occupied Czech.
    Adolf Hitler was determined to captivate a part Czechoslovakia called Sudetenland. The Nazi Party in Sudetenland started riots and went against Hitler's authorities and Hitler was furisous. He demanded cession but the Czech government opposed it. German troops then came in and finished the occupation.
  • German Invasion of Poland

    People involved: Adolf Hitler, Franz Halde, Edward Rydz-Śmigły
    Military: About 1.5mil German troops invaded Poland along its territory. At the same time the German Luftwaffe bombed polish airforces and german u-boats and ships attacked polands navalforces.
    Britain, France and Poland joined forces against Germany. However, they didnt help poland with military aid, just helped defeat Germany. By june, Germany had all of Poland in thier control.
  • The Blitzkrieg

    People involved: Germany against Poland; Hitler, Halde, and Rydz-Śmigły. Used by General George Patton and Erwin Rommel
    Military: This is a military tactic also known as lightning war. It creates disorganization among enemy forces through the use of mobile forces and locally concentrated firepower. Ends in short military campaigns which helps lives and limits artillery.
    Germany first used this tactic on Poland in 1939 then later successfully on Belgium, the Netherlands and France in 1940.
  • British and French declaration of war against Germany

    People involved: Alfred von Schlieffen, Adolf Hitler, Sir Edward Grey, Neville Chamberlain
    Military: Used Blitzkrieg tactic during this time and the military of France and Russia attacked Germany.
    Germany invaded Poland which caused them to go to war with both France and Russia. Britain and France issued an ultimatum to Germany to withdraw its troops from Poland, a state that both countries had sworn to defend. Hitler ignored these warnings and a war was created.
  • German invasion of France and the fall of Paris

    People involved: Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill
    Military: German forces penetrate France’s lines of defense and France signs armistice with Germany.
    Germany begins to invade Belgium, the Netherlands, and France. French and British troops move into Belgium but get trapped between German armies. The Luftwaffe bombs central Rotterdam causing the Netherlands to surrender to Germany. Paris fell due to not knowing and making the wrong actions of how the war was playing out.
  • Battle of Britain

    People involved: Germany: Hans-Jürgen Stumpff UK: Trafford Leigh-Mallory. Marshal Hugh Dowding.
    Military: Britain stood alone against the power of Germany’s military forces, which had conquered most of Western Europe in less than two months. Most of the war was fought "in air". It was the largest stastained bombing and Germany lost by not being able to win an air battle.
    This was a major turning point in WW2 between Germany and Britain. It occured in the summer and fall of the year 1940.
  • Pearl Harbor

    People involved: US: FRanklin D. Roosevelt Japan: Isoroku Yamamoto
    Military: This was a surprise military strike by the Japanese against the US. The Japanese attacked by airforce bombing and sinking many of the US military ships.
    One of the reasons the United states became involved in WW2 was because of Pearl Harbor. The Japanese was afraid of the US affecting their nation so they attacked by air bombing our ships. Soon after, US declared war on Japan.
