  • Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children (PARC) v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,

    This case deals with exclusion with in the school setting. This case forced The state of Pennsylvania to include the parents in decision making as well create a special ed program that will meet the needs of the students. The three-judge decision stated that Pennsylvania must do a number things to ensure accommodations are made for learners with disabilities. All students must be admitted and placed in special ed classroom where they will be taught based on their abilities.
  • Mills v. The Board of Education of the District of Columbia (1972),

    Mills v. The Board of Education of D.C was an important case because it ensured that educational opportunities should be available to all students.
    This important lawsuit was filed against The District of Columbia because children were being denied the the right to an education because of developmental or behavior disabilities.
    The courts ruled that The district of Columbia was legally responsible to provide a free public education to all children with irregardless of disability
  • Honig v. Doe. The Supreme Court

    This case deals with students that have behavioral problems associated with their disability.The state of California denied education to students because of their disruptive behavior, behavior that directly connected to their disability. The Supreme Court ruled that the state must provide services for such students in accordance with Education for All Handicapped Children Act
    This supported the needs of students with difficult behavior issues to not be excluded from an education.
