  • Mills v. Board of Education of the District of Columbia

    This case gave students with disability the same free education as general education students. School districts may not exclude children because of costs and budgets. This ruling has allowed children to receive the education and services that they deserve through a free public education.

  • Honig v. Doe

    Two students were indefinitely suspended from school because of their behaviors caused from emotional disturbance disorder. The court ruled in favor of the children’s family, ruling that schools cannot deny education to children because of their disabilities.

  • Carter v. Florence County School District

    If a public school decides that they cannot provide appropriate services for special needs children and children have to go to a private school to receive services, the public school may be required to pay for the child to attend the private school. This ruling takes a financial burden off of the parents and allows children to receive appropriate education.
