Abby (23) and John are getting married after dating for four years and being engaged for two. They've decided that they're compatible enough to become as one and live under the same roof. Erikson's fifth stage, intimacy versus isolation, the crisis is if the stages beforehand have not been successfully finished, then there can be difficulty maintaining and remaining stable in future relationships. -
Abby's Retirement; Generativity vs. Stagnation
Retired from work and with nothing to do, Abby (55) spends her free time at the local orphanage helping to take care of children and donating new toys and books for them to use. Erikson's seventh stage, generativity versus stagnation, the crisis is that people who don't master generativity tend to feel stagnation where they believe they aren't leaving a meaningful mark on the world.
