    Barack Obama is sworn in as 44th president of the USA
    This was when the first inauguration of president Barack Obama happened. This event held a record for attenedeance. President Obama used phrases from the Gettyburg Address to not olny recongnize the 200th anniversary of Lincolns birthday but also the new birth of America and the changes that had and were going to occur, This falls under the Leadership deficit that our country is facing because America was going through the change of our president.
  • GM files for Bankruptys

    On May 29, 2009 the GM stock fell below $1 per share and not long after that did the company file for bankruptcy (June 1, 2009). Stock owners were going to end up with a new stock in reorganized GM worth a fraction of thier initial investment. This event would fall under the trade catagory becasuse of the heavy influence it took over the stock market and many stock owners.

    Mind control headsets enter the video games market
    A company called Emotiv created and realased a new headset allowing users to control a video game with the mind itself. Senors on the headset could detect patters given off fromt the brain and the actions would be transfered to the game. This item ould fall under the Savings deficit because this headset is very expensive and people are taking money that could be used for more important things thar are a neccessity for life.
  • Earthquake in Haiti

    Earthquake in Haiti
    On this date, the country of Haiti was struck by an eathquake with a magnituide of 7.0. The quake destroyed the nations capital Port-au-Prince, with a death toll of 222,000. It wasnt until Jan. 22nd that the UN noted that the emergency phase of relief was coming to a close and within the next few days issued a search for all the survivors. This event would fall under the Budget deficit because not only did americans take money out of thier own budget to help but the US Gov't did as well.

    Apple relased the first Ipad
    On this date in 2010, Apple debuted the first Apple IPad. The IPad is a divice that is a mix between a smart phone and a laptop. This debute would land this event under the savings catagory because many americans either had to save alot of money for this device or took money out of thier savings to purchase this device.
  • Japan is devastated by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami

    Japan is devastated by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami
    In 2011, Japan was not only hit with a devestating earthquake but also a tsunami. These events cost over $300 billion dollars. over 125,000 buildings were destroyed and over 1.5 million left with out water. This event would fall under the budget catagory becasue many americans raised and budgeted money to send to help the Japanese people. The US also used budgeted money to sent ships and rescuse teams to japan after the tsunami.
  • Osama Bin Laden was killed

    This day was monumental in our nation becasue this was the day that the man who conducted the terrorist attacks on 9/11 was captured and killed. Bin Laden was the leader of the terrorist group Al Queda, This event falls under leadership becasue the team that went in to kill him had impecable leadership from both the military and the president. Not only did they kill Bin Laden, but they also made it home safely with out losing any soliders.
  • Hurricane Sandy

    On this day, the east coast was hit with an awful hurricane killing many people and leaving 1000's of people with out homes or shelter. America responded by sending money to the victims and sending money to charities that went to the east coast and helped people after the hurricane. This event falls under the Savings catagory becasue many Americans took money out of thier own savings to send to the east coast to help thier fellow citizens.
