Meag’s Development Timeline Project

  • Infancy, emotional development

I was securely attached to my caregivers from what I am told. I sometimes wonder though because I am adopted and I think my parents tend to believe what they want to, what suits their interest. I sometimes wonder whether I was too clingy because of being adopted, or sometimes aloof.
  • Infancy

    Infancy
My temperament as a baby was easy and I was happy and easy to soothe. My parents say I “cooed” a lot.
  • Infancy (Birth - 2)

    Infancy (Birth - 2)
I began walking at 8 months old
  • Piaget stages of Cognitive Development

Sensorimotor development: I put my doll Coffee in water and would watch her hair drip.
  • Early Childhood

Ages 2-4, I was interested in dolls, books, stuffed animals, trampoline, gymnastics, and dance.
  • Piaget's preoperational stage

symbolic representation, I used this at this age by symbolizing a paper towel roll insert to be a phone.
  • Early childhood, cognitive development

Parents and teachers teaching language development: my teachers taught songs that taught us new words, I remember especially doing journals that we had to turn in each week. My mom saved all of them, which is neat to look back on. I also remember doing vocabulary tests in school maybe weekly or bi weekly. My parents played games in the car where we would read signs.
  • Early Childhood, Emotional Development

    Early Childhood, Emotional Development
Others described me as fun, funny, outgoing, creative, and engaging as a child. My temperament was good, happy and easygoing. It seems to be the same as my infancy.
  • Middle/late childhood (6-10 years old)

We played games, running around and tree climbing, trampoline. In our pool we had swimming races or games where we would see who could pick up the most off the bottom of the pool floor. We compared our jumps to see: biggest splash or least. I played sports and enjoyed softball , gymnastics, & basketball. I enjoyed activity, especially outdoors. I was proud of myself to accomplish with sports, especially gymnastics and softball.
  • Adolescence (Piaget’s stages of Cognitive Development)

Egocentrism: in middle and high school I felt what I wore would determine who would like me and how I would fit in. To an extent, this was true, because in high school this helped me find my tribe. I was more focused on it in middle school. I believed then that if my parents bought Timberland boots and Birkenstock shoes I would be “popular.” It turns out that was not the determinant and probably being in show-choir was a roadblock to my social climb.
  • Adolescence: Puberty

I started puberty at 11, in the normal zone for my gender. I think I was a bit overly interested in dating, that may have been an effect.
  • Adolescence, emotional development

Sternberg would have considered our relationship in adolescence to be passionate and infatuation.
  • Adolescence, Dad gets job in ATL

Dad travelled every week to ATL for work and back on weekend my senior year. This had a big impact on me, I missed him and remember crying on Sundays when he left. I went to college the following year, they were out of state in ATL.
  • Adolescence:physical activity

I was involved in playing softball, track(briefly), and in show choir. I enjoyed dancing and playing ball. I was sort of embarrassed to be on stage or the center of any attention at this age though so it was always anxiety provoking unless it was practice. Actual games and concerts were stressful.
    Gross motor skills used: running.
Fine motor used: gripping the ball in softball.
  • Early Adulthood

    Early Adulthood
    Got my first dog
  • Niece is born!!!!

    Niece is born!!!!
Emily born, major shift in the family dynamic! She is our joy. She also has special needs so that has changed our family in big ways.
  • Early Adulthood: physical activity

    Early Adulthood: physical activity
I am interested in running and swimming, hiking, and walking. I picked up trail running in my 20’s. I have definitely had periods where I have stopped and restarted. It makes me feel good to be running although it is challenging, I enjoy the activity because it makes me engage with nature whilst getting in cardio. It sounds silly, I tend to dance at home alone frequently. There is no strict type of dance, whatever I feel like, to whatever music. It always feels great to have a dance break.
  • Adulthood, emotional development

    Adulthood, emotional development
My boyfriend and I have started to bein our own traditions together lately. This year we did a pumpkin, to make it more appealing for him I decided on a dragon design since he loves dragons and GOT. I found a three headed dragon and drew it free handed onto our pumpkin. I continued to enjoy art from childhood through adulthood.
  • Adulthood, emotional development

    Adulthood, emotional development
Now I am in a relationship that would be considered consummate; including all three intimacy, passion, and commitment. From the beginning we were very open about our lives and held back very little from each other. There is open communication and a strong attraction.
