    Mehndi was often one of the most important pre wedding ceremonies, celebrated mainly by the brides family. The Mehndi was often applied to the brides hands and feet. The designs were very detailed and complicated.

    It is believed that the Mehndi plant was carried from Egypt to India where it was used for decorating, medical uses, also to dye silk, wool, leather, horse mains and animal fur. Indian weddings were incomplete without a Mehndi ceremony, where they would get a sun on their palm which represents hands and feet.
