    The Beginning
    On May 15, 1948, Israel declared its independence. The day after, May 15, Arab-countries such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Transjordan and Iraq invaded Israel. Which ended being the beginning of the Arab-Israeli war.

    The first war caused a massive number of refugees. There were about 700,000 Palestinian Arabs who became refugees.

    War Results
    With the first Arab-Israeli War over, Egypt took control over the Gaza Strip. Transjordan took control over the the west territory, the Jordan River known as the West Bank.
  • Baghdad Pact

    Baghdad Pact
    Egypt's leader, Gamal Adbel Nasser, refused to join the Baghdad Pact, which led to confrontations. The U.S later refused to loan Egypt money to build the dam on the Nile River.
  • Arab-Israeli Conflict

    Arab-Israeli Conflict
    Israel launched air strikes against Egypt, Syria and Jordan. Israel then took control over the Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem, Golan Heights and Sinai Peninsula.

    Egypt and Syria wanted to get their territory back which resulted with the surprise attack on Israel in 1973. The launched is called the Yom Kippur War.

    Egypt and Israel made a peace agreement. It's known as the Camp David Accords. Egypt recognized Israel and Israel returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt. It ended 30 years of hostility between Egypt and Israel.

    Although there was peace made, there was still violence in Palestine. There were Palestinian youths that still made violent choices against Israel. There were suicide bombers in 2000.
