    The Utes came when the Pueblo Dwellers left. They occupied much of Colorado. Utes say they've been here forever

    First Pathfinders come to Colorado
    Francisco de Coronado set out from Mexico with 200 spansh soldiers and athousand indians. They marched north for the cities of gold. At the end, they found herds of bison, but no gold.
  • Utes get Horses

    Utes get Horses
    The Utes got horses from the hispanic. The horses helped them hunt, raid, getting clothing, choosing where to live, making a living, and trading.
  • Diego de Vargas visited the San Luis Valley

    Hewas the first European to set foot in Colorado.Vargas, the govener of New Mexico, went to open trade with the Utes. They also asked for help fight the comaches. The tribe had attacked Spanish towns in New Mexico
  • Jaun de Ulibarri came to Colorado

    Jaun de Ulibarri and forty soldiers marched north from New Mexico. They headed for the plains to find some Pueblo indians.
  • Peter and Paul Mallet set out from Canada

    They wanted to trade with the spanish ,but, on thier way to Santa Fe, they passed both the Platte and Arkansas river. Thier plans came to nothing as the spanish turned them away
  • Juan Maria De Rivera Explored the San Juan Mountains

    He and his men were looking for gold and silver, but they failed. Although, they did give alot of rivers spanish names in Colorado.
  • Two Spanish Priests set out from Sante Fe

    Silvestre Escalante and Francisco Dominquez were looking for an easy way to Calirornia. They explored the western part of Colorado. They headed west into central Utah, but got stopped by winter storms and returned to Sante Fe
  • United States Bought the Louisiana Purchase

    This purchase nearly doubled the size of the United States.It included a part of what now is Colorado.
  • Lewis and Clark go on thier expedition

    Meriwether Lewis and William clark crossed the Rockies and traveled to the Paciric Coast
  • Pike Spends the Winter in Colorado

    Pike and his men hiked through the snowy mountains in Colorado. Many froze their feet.
  • Bents fort is built

    Two American brothers had built the fort on the Arkansas River. Bent's fort was a popular place. It was a rest stop for the Sante Fe trail.
  • Replica of Bent's Fort is Built

    This Bent's Fort was built like the original. It has shops and rooms like they were in the 1830's.
