    Ku Klux Klan
    six veterans of the confederate army created the KKK. The clan were extremists and supported white supremacy, white nationalism, and anti-immigration. The KKK was known as the hate group. They opposeed the civil rights movement and hated African Americans. There was a total of three clans. the first was made right after the civil war, the second clan dramatically incresed in numbers when world war 1 started, the third clan was made after world war 2.
  • Malcom X

    Malcom X
    He was an African American muslim minister and a human rights activist. He originally had an African name but replaced is last name with an X. He has been called one of the greatest and most influential African Americans in history. In prison, he became a member of the Nation of Islam. He taught black supremacy amd advocated the segregation of black and white Americans. In 1965 he was finally assassinated.
  • Martin Luther King Jr.

    Martin Luther King Jr.
    Martin Luther King Jr. was an American clergyman activist and a prominent leader of African American Civil Rights Movement. He led the Montgomery Bus Boycott in Montgomery, Alabama and also helped found the Southern Chrisitian Leadership Conference. King was most well known for his "I Have a Dream" speech which he spoke in 1963 during the March on Washington. He was also given a Nobel Peace for his efforts to end racial discrimination. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968 in Memphis Tennessee.

    protesters usually seat themselves at a strategic location, uring the 1950s civil rights movement it was at white only resturaunts. They remain seated until they are evicted, usually by force, or arrested, or until their requests have been met. sit ins are a non violent protest. african americans would usually sit in at a sgregated white only resturaunts.

    the brown v. board of education was a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court that declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students unconstitutional. As a result, de jure racial segregation was ruled a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.

    Jack Roosevelt Robinson was born on January 31st 1919, and became the first African American to play baseball in the major leagues. He was the end to racial segregation in professional baseball. Not only was he the first African American to play baseball but he was an exceptional athlete in college. Other then sports Jackie was the first black television analyst in major league, and the first black vice president of a major american corporation.
  • Black Panthers

    Black Panthers
    First founded in oakland California by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, its purpose was to protect Black communitites from police brutality. By 1968 the party had expanded into many more towns including Seattle, San Francisco, and Pittsburg. The group had grown to 10,000 members by 1968 andits newspaper had a circulation of 250,000.
